How much movement went into these moreish homemade jam tarts?
Walking to buy the ingredients (flour, egg, butter, lemon, sugar), carrying them home
Picking plums and blackberries (walking, squatting, reaching high and low)
Washing the blackberries, peeling and stoning the plums, cooking them, squeezing a lemon, putting the jam into clean jars
Getting the pastry ingredients from cupboard, fridge and tap (flour, egg, butter, water)
Mixing, kneading and rolling out the pastry
Cutting out shapes with a glass and filling them with jam
Compare this to driving to the supermarket and picking a pack of jam tarts off the shelf. 😉
